Floor Control Assemblies/Riser Manifolds

A fire protection floor control assembly is a valve arrangement often seen installed on each floor of a multi-story building to manage sprinkler system operation by zone. Its primary components include an indicating control valve, a check valve to prevent backflow, pressure gauges for supply and system monitoring, and a test-and-drain valve that simulates sprinkler activation for inspection and maintenance. The purpose of the assembly is to allow each floor to function as an independent sprinkler zone. This zoning provides several advantages: a fire event on one floor can be quickly identified, maintenance can be performed without shutting down protection for the entire building, and water flow alarms can be isolated to a specific level for faster response. In high-rise and large multi-tenant buildings, floor control assemblies improve system reliability, enhance fire department operations, and provide a safer, more efficient means of managing sprinkler protection across multiple stories. Riser Manifolds are offered by manufacturers with some of the above-mentioned requirements of a floor control assembly but may not include all components.
