Jim Lake (IFSA) and Alisdair Perry (BAFSA) presented Ronnie King with the IFSA’s H.W. Marryatt Award at the BAFSA Annual General Meeting in Birmingham, England.  

Ronnie King has dedicated over five decades to advancing fire safety, public protection, and professional standards throughout the United Kingdom and beyond. Beginning his career in the West Yorkshire and London Fire Brigades, he went on to serve as Chief Fire Officer for the Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, leading one of the most extensive geographic fire services in the UK for twenty years.

Recognized with an OBE, the Queen’s Fire Service Medal, and a fellowship in the Institution of Fire Engineers, Ronnie’s career reflects a deep sense of duty, humility, and service to others. His enduring leadership and advocacy have strengthened the relationship between the fire profession, government, and the public.
