Special Application Sprinklers
Specific Application fire sprinklers are specially listed for defined fire hazards under controlled test conditions. Unlike standard sprinklers, which follow general design criteria, these sprinklers are evaluated and approved for precise scenarios. Common examples include sloped combustible concealed attic spaces, window fire rating equivalency, shallow combustible interstitial spaces. They may have unique spray patterns, K-factors, or installation parameters tailored to their intended use. Their performance and limitations are strictly defined in their listing and must be installed per the manufacturer’s instructions and referenced standards like NFPA 13. These sprinklers are not interchangeable with standard spray, ESFR, or residential sprinklers and should only be used where explicitly permitted.
